Select Genetics is seeking full-time HR Office Administrator for a new poult hatching facility located in Terre Haute, IN.  This position is anticipated to begin employment in January, 2018.

Key Responsibilities of this Role:

  • Positively representing the organization welcoming employees with enthusiasm as an initial point of contact for the HR team. Includes phone answering, call routing and greeting visitors.
  • Conducting new employee orientations.
  • Maintaining employment records and entering employee information into our human resources information system in a timely manner.
  • Providing administrative support for the recruiting process, benefits, employee training, performance management and compensation.
  • Serving as a support resource to our employees, working collaboratively with managers, HR staff and employees in situations requiring translation.
  • Translating written communication and marketing material on benefits, internal publications or company updates, training materials and other documents as needed.

  • Assisting with special projects and other general administrative support as needed.
  • Managing all aspects of employee recruitment process.
  • Acquire, distribute and store supplies.
  • Prepare and review operational reports and schedules to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Will be capable of performing work independently and make decisions corresponding to company needs with responsibility, creativity and autonomy.

  • 2 years previous supervisory and human resources experience required.
  • 2 years payroll and accounting experience preferred.

  • Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Staff Poultry Veterinarian – Aurora, MO

About the Opportunity:

Select Genetics has a full time, career opportunity for a Staff Veterinarian to join our turkey breeder operations in Aurora, MO, with additional coverage in IA and IL.  Our operations have a well-established, operational structure for a seasoned Veterinarian to easily transition to, or a new graduate will find advantageous and supportive.  This opportunity will require you to provide strong technical support to the turkey breeder and hatchery operations, in addition to our poult customers, from our multiple locations.  You will be working within a large, multi-location team of production and management personnel, other Veterinarians and Specialists in our industry.

You will be responsible for helping adjust and maintain strong preventative health and biosecurity programs, through rational surveillance and monitoring protocols, as well as other audit instruments.  You will also be expected to design, participate and oversee various applied research trials in production and in controlled research settings.

The Ideal Candidate Summary:

Turkey breeder production is an evolving industry.  A successful candidate will come with a positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, be self-motivated, have strong decision making, interpersonal, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Previous experience in poultry production or related animal production field would be preferred but is not required.  You will be expected to have a DVM degree from an AVMA accredited college and be eligible for licensure in multiple states.

Transportation Manager – Osceola, IA

Select Genetics is seeking a full-time Transportation Manager to ensure shipments into and out of our Osceola, IA hatchery facility.  This role is responsible that shipments are handled quickly, safely, and within budget, and coordinate with outside vendors that provide freight services and also ensure that delivery issues are researched and corrected.  The Transportation Manager will be expected to remain current on various regulations including DOT, hours of service, employment safety, and freight classifications.

  • Responsible for the implementation and oversight of procedural actions relating to Quality Control, Quality Surveillance, and Bio-security as directed by the Global Quality Control Manager.
  • Responsible for the implementation and oversight of fleet equipment maintenance, modifications, transfer of assets, and asset procurement.
  • Responsible for making hiring decisions of all logistics employees including Class A CDL Must be knowledgeable of CDL driver hiring requirements and DOT compliance.

  • Collaborates with the Global Logistics Manager to make information recommendations regarding intra-office operations and logistics efficiency improvements.

  • Ensures DOT compliance with respect to all transportation equipment and logistics employees.
  • Responsible for creating an engaging, healthy, and productive work environment, through aligning them with company culture and values.
  • Responsible for helping with the development and implementation of safety programs and procedures.
  • Scope of responsibility is expected to include up to 20 employees.

Qualification Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a Supervisory or Management role, with responsibility scope of 5 or more employees.
  • Demonstrates strengths engaging and interacting with people in a positive way.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidence utilizing business computer information systems/software is required.
  • A Class A CDL license is preferred but not required.
  • A Bachelor’s level degree is preferred but not required.
  • Poultry industry experience and transporting live animals/product is preferred.

This position is expected to compensate a salary range of $55,000 – $70,000 commensurate with experience and education and is eligible for a full-benefits package to include:

Night Machine Watch – Foley, MN

We are seeking a full-time employee for a Night Machine Watch opportunity at our hatchery operations located in Foley, MN.   This is an hourly, non-exempt, benefits eligible opportunity.

  • Pneumatic, plumbing and (limited) electrical repair of incubators and hatchers.
  • Hourly checks on temperature in controlled rooms.
  • Hourly checks on poults waiting to be picked up to ensure their health and well-being.
  • Keep hatching machinery running at peak performance.
  • Start up equipment for day’s hatch.
  • Record data accurately and effectively.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be self-motivated, responsible and work with little to no supervision.
  • Must be safety oriented.

Schedule, Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting wage is $13.00/hour with increase available after 60 days
  • This is a night shift position. The hours are 6 pm to 6 am. There will be a two week training period on days and then will switch to nights.
  • Rotating weekends with alternating 36 and 48 hours per week:
    • Week 1- Monday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday
    • Week 2- Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday

The Opportunity:

This role will be responsible for the hatching and delivery of day old poults at our hatchery operations located in Willmar, MN.  In this challenging role, you are responsible for ensuring this hatchery operates within budget, meets a high level of biosecurity and animal welfare standards, while optimizing the output and quality of our poults through your leadership of people and efficient and effective processes.

The Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Experience building and managing a team of highly engaged employees is critical to the success of this role.
  • Demonstrates experience and ability to solve problems and manage change.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrates confidence utilizing Microsoft Office software programs.
  • Formulating operational budgets experience is highly preferred.

General Labor – Willmar, MN

Select Genetics is looking for general labor workers on our poultry-turkey farms located throughout the Willmar, MN area.  We are looking for reliable people who are available and interested in either full-time or part-time hours!  Positions include egg picking/gathering, catching, and insemination.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Applicants must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, walk and bend, and be willing to handle live birds (turkey), and/or eggs, and work inside a barn environment.
  • Must also be required to follow all site specific bio-security rules, including showering in and out of barns on a daily basis.

The Opportunity:  Service Room Team Members

The Willmar, MN Hatchery hatches over 150 Million poults every year!   We have full-time, benefit eligible openings in our Service Room, where poults receive several treatments through automated equipment before they are supplied to our farmers.  These treatments and processes allow our birds to grow optimally and healthy.

Responsibilities of Service Room Team Members:

  • Performing several services on poults (day old baby turkeys) such as: toe/claw treatments, desnooding of beaks using automated robotic machines, counting birds, handling live birds and placing in robotic machines for processes, and removing deceased birds from the area.
  • Will be expected to keep work areas clean and rotate cleaning duties with team members

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to stand up to 2 hours at a time and lift up to 40 lbs
  • Must be willing to follow important bio-security procedures
  • Will be working closely with other service team members – must respect and get along with coworkers
  • Must be able and willing to handle live poults – baby turkeys
  • Must be able to work through repetition of tasks
  • Reliability is extremely important!
  • Must be willing to work major holidays as needed

Schedule and Wages/Compensation:

  • The hatchery service room operates 4 days/week:  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Friday (NO weekends – Wednesdays we do not hatch)
  • Service Room Team must be able to start at 6:20AM – 5:30PM/6:00PM up to 8:00PM  until daily hatch is completed **end times can vary based on hatching cycles
  • Hourly wage plus Benefits eligible include:  Medical Insurance, Dental, Vision, 401K with 4% company match, Disability and Life Insurance paid by company, Holiday pay, PTO accrual eligible, Health Savings Account available to save pre-tax dollars for medical expenses with a company match.

Select Genetics, a poultry company headquartered in Willmar MN, has full-time openings for general laborers at one of our flagship breeder farms located in Starbuck, MN.

Qualified applicants should have agricultural experience or be willing to learn/grow in the field, be able to repetitively lift up to 20 lbs. as well as bend and stoop, work in a fast paced environment, be able to work in the turkey barns assisting other employees for the general care of turkeys.  Ensure adequate feed and water supply, healthy environment, and general light duty maintenance as well as assisting with the cleanliness of the barns and surrounding areas.  Required to follow all site specific bio-security rules.

PALS is a retail supplier of agricultural equipment, feed, and medications serving the hog and poultry industries throughout MN.  We are seeking a full-time Warehouse Associate. 

Position Summary and Minimum Requirements:

  • This role will be responsible for a variety of tasks to control the flow of stock through the warehouse, monitoring goods in and out, safely and efficiently moving and handling items and keeping organized inventory records.
  • The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and strong work ethic, previous experience in a warehouse setting, operating a forklift, and Bobcat-Skid Steer.
  • This position will require the ability to lift a minimum 50 lbs without restrictions and willing to perform work both indoors and outdoors, in the Warehouse Yard.

Schedule:

  • Core working hours are Monday – Friday,  7:00AM – 5:00PM.
